Office Relocation Across Two Weekends, Without Downtime

Office Relocation Across Two Weekends, Without Downtime

A working office cannot close for a move. We split the relocation across two weekends so that every desk had somewhere to be on Monday morning.

2 weekends, zero working days lost
0 items reported missing

The brief

A firm moving from Salt Lake to New Town could not afford to close. The requirement was a relocation that left every department working on the Monday after it moved.

How we ran it

We surveyed both premises first, which is the step most quotes skip. What mattered was not the distance between them but the lift at each end, how far a loaded vehicle could park from the door, and which floor each department was landing on.

The move was then split by department across two weekends, so no team was ever mid-move on a working day. Every carton was labelled to its destination desk before pickup -- labelling at the far end is what turns a one-day unload into a three-day one.

Packing was finished on the Friday. A crew that arrives to find packing still in progress loses the morning, and that morning is what makes a weekend move spill into Monday.

What it delivered

Both weekends finished inside their windows, and the firm did not lose a working day. Nothing was reported missing, which is what the labelling discipline is really for.

The destination is half the job

The destination is half the job

Most relocations run late at the unloading end, not the loading end.

  • Both premises surveyed, including lift size and parking distance.
  • Department-by-department move, each finished within one weekend.
  • Every carton labelled to its destination desk before pickup.
  • Packing finished on the Friday, not started on the Saturday.
